Personal Profile - Jon Sandifer

I was born in 1953 and raised in Mombasa, Kenya and attended boarding school in the U.K. from the age of 9. Aged 17 in 1970 I joined four others on an expedition to Spitzbergen in the Arctic. On my return to school in September 1970, I was restless to see the world and to follow the Tao. I could not find the answers within the British education system and decided that I would prefer to go around the world.

I made a life-changing decision in September 1970; to abandon my studies and see the world. I took off on my own with £9, my passport, a rucksack, sleeping bag, a tent and some dehydrated expedition rations. During the next 6 years I travelled through some 52 countries and was inspired by two books, namely the Tao Te Ching and the I Ching.

In 1976 I returned to the U.K., discovered meditation and macrobiotics. In 1977 I enrolled as a student at the East West Centre in London where I studied Feng Shui Astrology (9 Star Ki) with Michio Kushi, Macrobiotics, Oriental Diagnosis, Yin & Yang, the 5 Elements, Acupressure and Shiatsu.

From 1981 - 1994 I taught many of these subjects at the East West Centre in London, later becoming the Director of Education and was made a Senior Teacher by Michio Kushi in 1988. In the early 1980's I helped set up the Shiatsu Society and taught 9 Star Ki, Oriental Diagnosis, Shiatsu and Macrobiotics throughout Europe.

Since 1994 I have committed myself to studying Feng Shui, Feng Shui Astrology and writing books. Since 1997 I have published 8 books on Feng Shui, Macrobiotics, Oriental Healing, Acupressure and lately the I Ching. I founded the Macrobiotic Association in 1995 and joined the Feng Shui Society Committee at the same time. I chaired the Feng Shui Society from 1998 - 2002 and continue to serve on the Executive Committee.

I have taught Feng Shui in 16 different countries over the past few years and have appeared on national television and radio several times and have had numerous newspaper and magazine articles printed.

I am deeply committed to continuing my research and study into Feng Shui and all the related disciplines. There is an interconnection between all these systems as they are based on Yin & Yang, the I Ching and the 5 Elements.

I am blessed with 7 wonderful children born between 1980 and 2000 who continue to inspire me day by day.

My dream is to use my knowledge and experience to make a difference in people's lives. I believe very strongly in the power of individual and collective responsibility in the domain of health and well being. I believe that we can use these traditional principles and adapt them to contemporary times to help navigate us through what looks like a possible difficult and uncertain future for the planet, its ecology, its people, their health and their spirit.
