Astrology Charts - How your chart is analysed 1) I analyse your chart from your year, month, day and hour of birth by consulting the 10,000 Year Calendar. I then analyse how the various elements interact with each other. The result is very different when you are able to find not only the Elements but to analyse their various combinations and clashes using the Five Elements. The year, month, day and hour each represent one of what are known as the "Four Pillars". It is easy to download this kind of information off the Internet, however, what these systems lack is interpretation. I will check for every single combination and clash that exists between each aspect of the Pillars as they frequently form new Elements and possibilities. All this is explained in my report. In addition, there is a fifth Pillar known as the "Life House" which equally interacts with the 4 Pillars and can give another slant on your entire horoscope. This Life House relates to your life's journey, your road or your path. The Life House Pillar is little known to most students of Chinese Horoscopes. It can give you a whole new insight into your potential and destiny. Each of these Pillars is made up of a Heavenly Stem - which is either a Yin or a Yang version of one of the Five Elements. This always appears on the top line of your chart which I draw using the authentic Chinese character e.g. a Heavenly Stem could be Yin Wood or Yang Wood, Yin Fire or Yang Fire etc. The Heavenly Stem relates to Heavenly Chi. Below this Stem in every Pillar is an Earthly Branch. There are 12 of these and are more commonly known in the West as the 12 Chinese Animals e.g. Yang Water Rat, Yin Earth Ox, Yang Wood Tiger, Yin Wood Rabbit, Yang Earth Dragon, Yin Fire Snake, Yang Fire Ox, Yin Earth Sheep, Yang Metal Monkey, Yin Metal Rooster, Yang Earth Dog or Yin Water Pig. 2) I will analyse each one of these Four Pillars and the extra Life House Pillar to see whether any of them combine to form a new Element or clash with one another, thereby weakening one of them. Sometimes a clash is useful since it can help dilute the negative influence of a particular Element that perhaps you do not need or request in your chart. The most important Pillar for analysis is what is known as the "Day Stem". This is the Yin or Yang Five Element from the day of your birth. The only accurate way to discover this is by being able to read the 10,000 Year Calendar. If, for example, your Day Stem was Yang Wood, it is vital to look next at what season you were born in. If you were born in the Spring (when Yang Wood is active) this is excellent timing. However, if you were born in the Autumn (when the Spring season of Wood is dead), then the Yang Wood is weak and would look for support from other Elements which needs careful analysis from your whole chart. Most Chinese astrology puts too much emphasis on the Earthly Branch of the year of your birth e.g. monkey, sheep or ox. Naturally, this section of the Pillar does have a say in your overall character but it is your deeper nature which is really truly revealed in your Day Stem - sometimes known as your Day Master. The next part of the analysis is to check the other Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches in your chart relative to your Day Stem. For this you need a clear understanding of the Five Elements sequence, both the control cycle and the support cycle are vital. This part of the analysis is vital for understanding yourself in relation to those around you and the kind of support you need from other Elements. It is only when the whole chart is laid out accurately and all the combinations and clashes have been taken into account that you can begin any meaningful interpretation. 1.
The Day Stem Element is always you. The final part of this careful analysis of your actual Horoscope is to determine which Element(s) you need to support you. Always remember this Element and try to bring it into your life using clothing, interior design, colour or some kind of lucky charm. Since this Element needs to closely support you, I always recommend that you chose the colour of the Element as part of your clothing, jewellery, bedclothes or duvet cover. It could also be the cover of your favourite chair, cushion or seat of your car. THE COLOURS OF THE FIVE ELEMENTS Wood
